Ananova - Sorenstam bidding for half century

World number one Annika Sorenstam is bidding to take her number of wins on the LPGA Tour to 50 in this week's Office Depot championship.

The defending champion has won the event twice in her last three starts and finished second in 2002.

Defending titles is something in which she excels. She has done it 11 times and if the 33-year-old Swede can take home another Office Depot title, she will join the elite list who have won three separate tournaments three times.

The 144-strong field in Los Angles is an impressive one, with plenty of former champions, among them some recent winners in world number two Se Ri Pak (2002) Grace Park (2000) Rachel Teske (1999) and former world number one Karrie Webb (1997-99).
